Read Like a Writer Online Class

Read Like a Writer

Do you ever read a book and think – I wish I could write like that? Are you a writer who likes a book but might have a hard time figuring out why? Do you struggle with something in particular like dialogue or story beginnings? Would you like to learn how to study the masters to improve your own writing?

Well then—this just might be the class for you.

Registration opens today for my month-long READING LIKE A WRITER online class.

Here’s the info:

What: Reading Like a Writer is the idea that we can read, study, dissect, and discuss how Master Writers do what they do. In this course we’ll tackle Beginnings, Dialogue, Scenes, and Endings—one topic per week—reading samples together and figuring out what makes them work. Every week, I’ll email you a reading packet and some thought-provoking questions which the class will discuss together online.

Who: Anyone writing stories for young readers in any genre and for any age group. Whether you write YA, middle grade or picture books, whether it’s fantasy, poetry, humor, non-fiction – whatever. If you write for adult audiences only, you’re welcome to take the course, although be forewarned our readings will come from young people’s literature.

When: 4 weeks: Jan. 8, 2017 – Feb. 4, 2017

Where: From your own home! This is an online class that you can take from anywhere you have internet access.

The fee for the class is $150. Register by Nov. 16th for an early-bird 10% discount. Registration closes on Dec. 3rd or when the class is full.
