On Wednesdays, I vow to inconsistently list some good books I’ve recently read.
I just reread Matthew Quick’s Sorta Like a Rock Star. I love novels with great voice and amazing characters, and this is a home run for both. One thing this novel does well that’s especially hard to pull off is showcasing a delightfully optimistic main character. Amber Appleton is a force of positive energy that you can’t help but wish you knew in real life. And yet, she isn’t perfect–she feels real. This book is great for many reasons but one of them is that it shows the reader what life can look like for a teen who is homeless.
