Don Calame’s Beat the Band is a sequel to his hilarious YA novel Swim the Fly. It’s a sequel that doesn’t disappoint and a great example of connecting the reader to a somewhat unlikeable main character. This novel is funny, warm, fast-paced, and filled with fantastic characters. Warning: this novel is full of teenage boy raunchiness. So if that is not your thing, stay clear. But everyone else—
