On Wednesdays, I vow to inconsistently list some good books I’ve recently read.
My friend grabbed an ARC of Blue Birds by Caroline Starr Rose at ALA for me because she knew it was my kind of thing: Historical fiction middle grade novel in verse. Yes, please! I haven’t gotten to read May B. yet, although I am off to find that book next because Blue Birds was a wonderful story. Beautiful poems. Adventure. History. Loving friendship. There’s a surprising and brave ending to this story that I really loved. And it’s about the lost colony of Roanoke! I’ve always found that mystery interesting.
If you love historical fiction or verse novels—
