Today’s featured book is Winter Bees by Joyce Sidman. Illustrated by Rick Allen.
I can’t help but mention another Joyce Sidman book. (She’s obviously one of my favorite poets!) This book is a collection of perfect–the poems, the facts, the illustrations–all marvelous.
Classroom Activity: There’s a pantoum in this collection! One of my favorite kinds of poems. Have your students write their own pantoum. I highly recommend using post-it notes for the drafting. Easy to move around! If you aren’t sure about pantoums, go here for a good explanation and example.
