1. There are over 300 kinds of sharks.
2. More people are killed by snakes, elephants, bees, tigers, and hippos than by sharks. But sharks are the ones with the bad reputation.
3. Some—but not all—sharks must keep swimming in order to stay alive. Great white and mako sharks need to keep swimming in order to breath. (That’s how the water passes over their gill slits.)
4. Unlike other fish, sharks don’t have a swim bladder. If they stop swimming, they sink.
5. People have 5 senses (seeing, hearing, tasting, touching, smelling.) Sharks can do all that plus one more. They have an extra “electrical” sense that helps them figure out when prey is in nearby water.
