6 ways to celebrate National Poetry Month in your school

  1. Read a poem over the PA system each morning to start the day.
  2. Invite a poet to your school. Or skype with one.
  3. Show your class some cool Poetry Out Loud videos or Slam Poetry competitions.
  4. Look at the lyrics of a song. (Songs are poems!)
  5. Have a poetry contest for your students. Ask a local poet to be the judge.
  6. Check out a stack of poetry books from your library and keep them on your desk for students to browse.
