Right now I’m in the middle of revising a novel and the revision is actually…fun! I think because I’ve fixed (I think) the big picture things and now I have this checklist of small changes to make. It feels good to go down and cross them off one at a time. Plus in this stage of revision I get to use colored pens and index cards and spread it all out on the floor.


Here’s where I see that I have too many scenes between Point A and Point B. And I need to thread that subplot earlier and here’s where to do it. And. And. And.
Really, I’m someone who likes crossing items off a to-do list, so of course this part is fun.
